Petition Response - Save Burleigh Heads Library 2026-028

It is recommended that Council resolves as follows: 1 That the Burleigh Heads Library service continue as a permanent Library lounge service. 2 That the planned Burleigh Heads level up arts program is cancelled with alternate delivery sites and funding to be considered as part of the 2027-28 budget. 3 That the Burleigh Heads Library lounge is to be delivered at zero net cost to the adopted 2026-27 budget: a through operational changes to the Burleigh Waters Library service; b reprovision of any proposed Level up arts program funding; and c any additional programming requests for funding be considered though Division 13 Local Area Works and Mayoral Local Area Works equally. 4 That a report be presented to Council in January 2029 on utilisation of the Burleigh Heads Library lounge as part of a broader review of southern Gold Coast Library services. 5 That the lead petitioner of this petition, and the lead petitioner of any subsequent petition received relating to this matter, be advised of Council's decision and be requested to inform other petitioners accordingly.
