Petition Response - Save Burleigh Heads Library 2026-028

It is recommended that Council resolves as follows: 1 That Council confirms its intent to reopen a staffed Library Lounge to meet the needs of the local community at the Park Avenue, Burleigh Heads site as a permanent Council library service. 2 That the Burleigh Heads Library Lounge: a Will have operating hours of no less than 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday; b Will provide library services including physical book collections for browsing and borrowing, onsite library staff, and family and community programming; and c That a computer, printer/copier, wi-fi, newspapers, chairs and tables be provided in the Library Lounge area. 3 That Council confirms its intention to establish and operate Level Up within the existing building alongside the Burleigh Heads Library Lounge, delivering both services from the site. 4 That the financial impacts of this decision be referred to the Special Budget Committee. 5 That the lead petitioner of this petition, and the lead petitioner of any subsequent petition received relating to this matter, be advised of Council's decision and be requested to inform other petitioners accordingly.
